Peter Roth

Peter Roth is a developer and educator specializing in community development, mixed-income housing, adaptive re-use and historic preservation. His Boston-based company New Atlantic Development Corporation has undertaken some of the area's most innovative projects, ranging from the Boston's first fully affordable assisted living community in Dudley Square, to the city's largest new construction artist community at ArtBlock in the South End, to the mixed-use redevelopment of a 3.2 acre former church campus in Jamaica Plain for retail, community, housing, and educational space. Mr. Roth also teaches at MIT's School of Architecture and Planning and Center for Real Estate. His non-profit volunteer activity includes serving as Chair of the Boston Preservation Alliance Board of Directors, and as President of Upham's Corner Main Street, Inc.

John O'Shea


John is the manager of the Strand Pharmacy, an important anchor of the district for over 20 years. He has served on the Board of UCMS in many capacities including at one point, Vice President of Design.

Deidra MacLeod


Deidra represents Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, an important neighborhood institution. When she is not volunteering her time for UCMS, she supports small businesses in the area with technical and business planning assistance. Aside from sitting on the ER Committee, Deidra serves as treasurer of the organization.

Val Pajer


Val is the Boston area District Manager for Staples, UCMS' Corporate Buddy. Val has been an active leader on the Board for three years, and serves as Vice President for Economic Restructuring. He has also played a major role in creating the popular and successful Business Networking Breakfast series.

Michelle Waldon


Michelle Waldon AIA, AICP, LEED AP, Associate of ICON architecture, inc. is a Registered Architect and Certified Planner with a B.S. from Northwestern College and Master of Architecture from Washington University. Historic preservation, adaptive re-use, and sustainability are focal points in her areas of practice, which includes mixed use, residential, hospitality, and educational design. Michelle serves as Chair of the UCMS Design Committee.

Joseph Schutt


Joe is a Jones Hill resident and real estate broker active throughout Dorchester and Back Bay. He has been very involved on both the Economic Restructuring and Promotion Committees, and he has guided the effort to develop a new website for UCMS.

Robert Haas


Bob has been a part of UCMS since the organization’s inception, serving as a Board Member and, at one time, as Executive Director. An accomplished musician and resident of Upham’s Corner, Bob currently serves as Director of Special Projects at the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative.

Carlos dePina


Carlos is owner of Ka Carlos, one of the neighborhood's pre-eminent Cape Verdean restaurants. He has served on the Board of Directors for five years, offering not only his time, but generous financial support as well.

Crystal Gandrud


Crystal has been an active resident of the Jones Hill neighborhood since 1982, and serves UCMS in the capacity of clerk. A retired public information officer for large environmental projects including the Boston Harbor Project, she now runs a small internet-based health and wellness business.

David Russman


David has been involved in UCMS since 2007. He lives and practices law in the neighborhood and he teaches law classes at Newbury College. David is very involved on the Promotion Committee.

Nicole Day


Nicole is a Jones Hill resident and Marketing Manager for Educators for Responsibility, a nonprofit that works with educators to create safe, caring, and equitable schools. Nicole serves as UCMS’ Vice President of Promotion and Committee Chair for UCMS’ Fundraiser 2008.

Victor Monteiro


Victor Monteiro is Assistant Vice President and Community Banking Manager for the Upham’s Corner branch of Sovereign Bank. A longtime member of the Upham’s Corner community, Victor has served on many local Boards and committees. He has been deemed by UCMS as the “King of Community Outreach.”

Carolyn McGee


Carolyn McGee is a banker at Citizens Bank, UCMS’ District Sponsor. She joined the Board in 2007 and has participated in a great deal of community outreach since that time. Carolyn is also a local property owner.

Arlindo Correia


Arlindo Correia is the owner of two local businesses, Restaurant Laura and CV Liquors. A resident as well as a merchant, Arlindo has served on many UCMS committees, including Design and Promotion. Prior to his joining the Board, Arlindo’s businesses underwent a major storefront renovation.
